The artist-in-residence program PARADISE AIR invites artists from Japan and around the world to Matsudo, supporting their creative production and presentations.

Since welcoming its first resident artists in 2013, PARADISE AIR celebrated its 10th anniversary at the end of May 2023.
To commemorate this milestone, we have published an archive book titled “POWERS OF TEN.”

The book introduces PARADISE AIR through ten key themes. It consists of a two-volume set:
a visual book filled with photographs documenting daily life with artists arriving from across Japan and around the world, and a textbook that explores the PARADISE AIR initiative in depth through essays and reviews by experts.

Over the past ten years, we have practiced, experienced, and remembered many things through running an artist-in-residence program and the many projects that have grown from it.
Through this publication, we hope readers will feel the energy and momentum of these ten years.

In creating the English edition of POWERS OF TEN, we re-structured our previously published two-book Japanese edition.

This new publication, which is a visual book like the previous Japanese edition, frames the last ten years of PARADISE AIR through nine perspectives. Additionally, in the re-edited “Future” chapter, collective members’ conversations see them looking back on the last decade while also imagining the future ahead. The book focuses on revealing the faces behind PARADISE AIR through ten keywords.
